WASHINGTON—Loews Hotels & Resorts has begun operating the 356-room Madison Hotel here, having acquired the property in December.

Loews acquired the hotel, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, from Jamestown Properties for an undisclosed price. While owned by Jamestown, the property underwent an extensive renovation estimated to cost $23 million.

Loews currently owns or manages 19 hotels and resorts in the United States and Canada.
