TORONTO, ON—Delta Hotels and Resorts is building a new property in Waterloo, which is expected to open summer 2013. According to the company, the Delta Waterloo Hotel, which is receiving a $36-million investment, will be reflective of the brand’s ongoing repositioning. It will be managed by Delta Hotels and Resorts, and is owned and being developed by Auburn Developments Incorporated.
The hotel is part of the 14-acre Barrelyards development project, which also includes a 200,000-sq.-ft. office complex, luxury residential buildings, condominium towers, assisted living residences and townhomes.
The boutique-style hotel will implement design elements like walnut, stainless steel and other modern finishes to evoke a contemporary feel. It will offer 195 ModeRoom guestrooms and suites, a full-service restaurant and lounge, a fitness center with retreat-style pool, a business center and approximately 8,000 sq. ft. of meeting space.
In addition, Delta’s flagship Toronto hotel is scheduled to open in 2014, and their property in Kitchener will no longer be operated under the Delta flag as of Mar. 31, 2013.
